Protecting the American Way of Life

There is a dream regarding our American way of life.

America is exceptional, a place where individual liberty is held paramount.  It is a God-fearing land and the leader of the free world.  America never enters war for conquest, but only as a sacrifice to help others hold onto or gain freedom.  Our political leaders don’t commit war crimes, they prosecute them.  Innocent until proven guilty.  They are selfless in their service to the nation.

It is the land of the free and home of the brave.  Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.  "If people can't trust not only the executive branch but also don't trust Congress, and don't trust federal judges, to make sure that we're abiding by the Constitution with due process and rule of law, then we're going to have some problems here."

Dreams and fantasies, every one.

It is a dream that has not been reality for a long time, if ever.  It may have only been reality in our retelling of folklore about cherry trees and never telling a lie; or a reality only in our indoctrination centers, euphemistically called public schools, and supported by the public relations firm known as the mainstream media.

The truth of the United States government is exposed for anyone who cares to see.  Involvement in foreign wars, toppling foreign leaders, sacrificing Americans in order to enter conflict, killing its own presidents, spying on its citizens, genocide of non-combatants, creating enemies for the purpose of state aggrandizement, indefinite detention, torture, napalm, no-fly zone, starving 500,000 children, using war as distraction for political failure, collecting data on every single electronic form of communication on virtually every connected person on the planet, naked body scanners, trial by drone for Americans and non-Americans alike, taxing half of our income and inflating away the rest.

Is this the way of life that requires protecting?

Protection for whom?  From whom?

    the truth: correct assessment.

three questions posed, three answers: no, us, our own Frankenstein.

    1. "three questions posed"

I wonder something else: no, them, us

    2. IF your answers to the questions posed were in effect and they needed protection from us, my days would be infinitely easier and much more enjoyable.

Sadly, at present, that time has not yet arrived and it is we who remain in need of protection.

I await the trigger that will begin the cascade of events that will, ultimately, terminate what we now endure. That trigger? National bankruptcy.

    3. "National bankruptcy."

This is when they will certainly need protection from us. I don't mean protection for a revolutionary uprising, but from withdrawing consent.

They require and currently have the people's consent to govern as they do. Fail on the promises, and they will lose the consent.

Keep the people in fear, and they have a chance to maintain consent. Meanwhile, monitor everything they do, to keep tabs on the troublemakers.

To maintain consent is why I also consider that they might declare default on current debt.

    5. i, too, refer to withdrawal of consent when the trigger, national bankruptcy, becomes a reality, NOT a violent upheaval. no violence is necessary to withdraw consent. all one has to do is say NO.

on the other hand, withdrawal of consent may provoke violence on the part of those currently possessing the monopoly on force, but that will only serve to cause more to withdraw consent. such actions are self defeating.

as Gandhi recounted his journey, very roughly put, on withdrawal of consent: first, they ignore you, then laugh at you, then beat you up, then you win. where we are in the progression of withdrawal of consent is not precise, but it seems more are beginning to do so.

at some point, no one will be able to ignore the elephant in the room any longer. at this point, there will be change. there is no question as to this becoming reality at some point in the future.

the real question is the nature of the phoenix.

This is why I answered the questions the way I did. They want protection from our withdrawal of consent, and all of the manifestations that this might take.
